Day Six - Diary and new video
So, day six...
It was the day after the rest day so there were a few refreshed legs ready for the ride. There were also a few sore heads from the night before, but everyone started the day feeling good. The scenery was beautiful and everyone did well as we climbed to the Col du Lautaret.
It was the day of the Col d'Izoard, Nicks favourite climb. But, alas, one member of the group cheated on the day...their mind clouded by the competitive nature that lays within them. This nameless person skipped lunch without mentioning their plan and gained an hour head start on the rest of the group, who all enjoyed a wonderful meal of pasta in a small town at the bottom of the mountain... The person in question was reprimanded by the group due to this behaviour and the win on the climb was deleted from the official records. This is not a race and, even if it was, this was not the way to win it.
The highlight of the day was the Coppi monument on the descent from the mountain, a testament to one of the sport's greatest ever riders.
We made it into Guillestre in good time to watch the England game only to discover, to our frustration, that the French deemed their game more important and refused to broadcast our match on Television...
All in all, another good days cycling. The weather was clearer than in the previous days but a few tough climbs had left the group worried about the following two day's huge schedules...
Only time would tell how these would pan out...
here (finally) is the video from the day:

This year we are hoping to raise a minimum of £100,000 and whilst
we recognise individaaul donations as given above integral to this
cause, we also consider corporate sponsorships as key to achieving
this goal. Unprecedented interest in the Fireflies offers sponsors
an exciting platform for promotions and branding.
See
who is currently sponsoring us and find out how you can become a sponsor. |

The Fireflies' arrival into Cannes has generated great support from
the advertising industry and culminates with a hero's welcome at the
Palais des Festivals. |
